| The seller tells us this is a “driver” car, but we think he’s being modest. Later, he told us that the car won at several car shows.
He kept a log book, where he kept track of the oil changes (every 3,000 miles or less) and additive. He had custom body work, restoration, paint, and new floor pans. The body was straightened, the front and rear roll pans, Frenched antenna and driving lights, custom grill, and shaved door handles. He also installed a more current Ford engine and water pump. The custom bucket seats are from a Plymouth or Dodge product. The console is from a Sunbeam sports car. Not bad for a “driver”… |

| [ Paint ] – The paint is approximately 4 years old, and is a professional base coat, clear coat, according to the seller. The finish is very smooth and shiny, and everything looks like it matches well. We did not detect any trash or orange peel in the paint.
Although it is hard to see in the photos, there are actually “ghost flames” in the paint. They start at the front fender well, extend all the way across the door, and stop midway at the rear fender well opening. We took a number of photos at different angles, hoping the flames would show up, so scroll down and click on the additional photos.
[ Body ] – The body looks very straight, without any apparent dents. The gaps look uniform, without any misalignment. We would go as far as to say it looks as good as, if not better than when it was almost new.
[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The chrome and bright work is in nice condition. The mirrors look newer, and all of the stainless is in very good shape. There may be a minor scratch here and there but nothing that detracts from the vehicle. There is light pitting on the wiper arms’ stub that attaches the arm to the body. The chrome that surrounds the rear window has some light pitting and scratches. The bezels around the headlamps show light pitting/flea bites, and the tail light bezels have a few minor dings and scratches (see photos).
[ Glass ] – The windshield looks fairly new without any apparent wiper marks or stone chips. There just may be some tiny pinhead sized flea bites. The rest of the glass does not show any marks, delamination, discoloration, or scratches.
[ Interior ] – The interior has been somewhat modified as you can see in the photos. The seller tells us everything is approximately 3-4 years old. This Ford has soft bucket seats with head rests, with cloth bottom and back, and vinyl surrounds. All of the stitches and material is in good shape. The carpet is fairly new but has a light amount of fading. The headliner is very new, and the visors are in excellent condition.
This car is equipped with a Sun tachometer and comes with an Autometer oil pressure gauge and VDO volt meter gauge. It has the original radio and a B&M shifter on the floor. The chrome around the gauges, controls, and switches shows a little bit of light wear and pitting, but all in all, it is in very good condition.
[ Bed ] – The truck bed has carpet covering the floor. It comes with a bed cover, which is supported by wooden bows (see photos). There is no spare tire, jack, or lug wrench.
[ Tires and Wheels ] – All 4 tires are Stinger radial GTs, size P215 60 R 14. The seller thinks these tires were possibly made by Goodyear and were discontinued. The tread on the passenger front tire is about 6/32. The other 3 tires measure about 7/32. The wheels are Lincoln wheels with spinners added to the center (see photos). We did not detect any major pitting or curb damage (maybe a couple light spots, but nothing that detracts from the car).
[ Engine and Transmission ] – The engine is a Factory Ford 289 V8 replacement engine. The only components that are not original to the engine are the Holley Street Dominator Intake and Holley 4 barrel carburetor. To the best of the seller’s knowledge, the carburetor is a 600 CFM.
The transmission is a Ford C-4, 3 speed automatic, which is not original to the car. It has a Thunderbird shifter mechanism and B&M shifter handle shift kit.
We saw the following casting number at front of block (5B224). Buyers are advised to do their own due diligence.
[ Chassis ] – Underneath, everything seems to be in very good shape. We did not detect any rust through or patchwork. Scroll down and click to see photos of the brakes and suspension components as well.
[ Mechanical ] – According to the seller, the car starts easily, steers well, drives straight, and shifts crisply. The brakes stop well and straight and it accelerates smoothly.
We tested the following items, and they were working at the time of the listing:
• Headlights
• Brights
• All turn signals
• Fog lights
• Rear tail lights (all modes)
The radio is not working (no sound), nor are the parking brake or remote doors. |
