1963 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster Call Chad for details

The seller purchased this beauty 6-7 years ago at a Kruse auction, and she was just what he was looking for: first year for this body style, knock off wheels, AND fuel-injected! She was professionally restored several years ago (we don’t know exactly when) and shows very few signs of any wear. The seller tells us that the current mileage shown on the odometer (6574) are the miles driven since her restoration.

Additional Details
[ Paint ] – The seller believes the paint is a lacquer finish. It is extremely smooth, shiny, and matches beautifully all the way around. It seems to be free of scratches and orange peel, and was most definitely professionally painted.

It is mostly nick-free, although there are a few nicks in the front (see photos). The upper surfaces are starting to check a little. It is hardly noticeable unless you are indoors under fluorescent lights, but it does exist. It is primarily on the hood, the inside edges of the front fenders, a little in the tops of the doors, and a light amount starting throughout the back deck. This is being highly critical – in fact, the camera cannot pick it up except on a bit where it is more pronounced (like the top edge of the door). Scroll down and click to see more detailed photos.

[ Body ] – The body is very nice and straight. The fits look as they should and all of the gaps (convertible top cover, doors, hood, cover, and retractable lights) all look correct.

[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The bright work around the windshield and vent windows is in very nice condition. Being extremely critical, there is maybe one little dimple on the top piece going across. The rest looks very straight. The bright work around the vent windows commonly pits, but this looks very nice, with just a slight amount of wear. The door handles and front and rear bumpers look like the chrome on a 2-3 year old car. The only areas showing “less than ideal condition” would be the underside of the bumpers (where they slope down to the ground). The inside edge looks like it was not done very well when it was chromed.

[ Convertible Top ] – The top is in great condition with nice, bright white coloring. The material feel very soft and supple. The front edge usually sees the most “wear and tear”, but this one does not seem to show any age or road wear at all. The stitching above the windows and around the back is all in great shape. We did not notice any wear or fraying damage. The rear window looks as clear as you would expect from a car that hasn’t even seen one season yet. The plastic window is extremely clear, with none of the usual scratching you normally see.

[ Glass ] – The windshield and side glass looks very clear without any obvious discoloration or delamination. We did not see any bulls-eyes, cracks, or wiper marks, although there are 3-4 light 3” scratches on the inside of the passenger’s side window (see photos).

[ Interior ] – The interior looks like the original style and design. The color looks good, with little, if any, fading. We did not see any apparent damage. The vinyl is very soft and does not show much wear. The visors are solid with good material and color. They seem to be in very nice shape. The seats and door panels look extremely fresh, without much age. The carpeting shows little wear although the passenger’s carpet looks a little lighter and more faded, for some reason. Perhaps it was flawed material when it was installed new.

The dash looks good and vivid without a lot of wear. The gauges and switches are very clean without a lot of wear (and the clock is running!). Overall the interior looks very crisp and striking.

[ Tires and Wheels ] – All 4 tires are BF Goodrich Silvertown tires. They are 6.70 x 18 (4) ply tires. They all have about 9/32 tread, and looks crisp and fresh. They do not show sun damage or obvious signs of cracking or rotting around the outside edges. The wheels are “knock-offs”. Neither the tires nor wheels show any curb or other type of damage.

[ Engine ] – Under the hood, you can see how much attention to detail was taken when this Corvette was restored. Obviously, a lot of time and effort went into duplicating the engine bay to what it looked like in the newer days (or when it was first built). You can see the GM #s on the hoses and other parts. You can see the GM markings, old style clamps and Delco battery, etc. With the exception of replacement OEM style parts, We did not see anything significant (added or deleted) that would take away from its originality. You can see a lot of effort went into keeping the engine compartment as close to the original look as possible. Note: We did notice some oxidation on the top of the fuel injection unit and the valve covers.

[ Chassis ] – Underneath, the car looks like it was nicely detailed some years ago. It has not had many miles put on it since then. You can see the frame and suspension components were all cleaned and nicely repainted. Over the years, a couple of surface rust spots have been touched up. Otherwise, it was left very natural so you can get a good feel for what it looks like underneath.

We did not see any rust perforation on the frame, and nothing jumps out as being non-stock. The floor pans are fiberglass and you can see a 3-4” light crack where the emergency brake cable fastens to the bottom of the driver’s pan. It looks like it may have been bumped at some time. There is a little scuffing on the other side, and also where the pan protrudes down on right rear section. This is fairly common for a low sports car. In front of that there is an area that was bumped in the past, and also a spot that is slightly rubbed through. Overall, the bottom side looks like it was expertly maintained, and looks very close/correct to original.

We saw some seepage that has run down the pan. It looks like it is probably just some that had blown back from the front seal when it was a little damp. There is a little bit of fluid dampness out of the steering unit where it ties into the tie rods, and also at the bottom of the transmission (this is not extremely unusual). Again, what is nice is that this underside is not all coated with some material that makes it hard to see what the actual condition is of the bottom side. The pictures will be very informative (see below).

[ Mechanical ] – Chad did not have a chance to take the car for a test drive on the day of the listing, but he did take it out a couple hundred miles ago. He feels the car operated properly. It seemed to steer correctly (manual steering), and brake properly without pulsating or pulling (manual brakes). The drive train seems to work correctly with no issues, and the car seems to shift smoothly. The seller installed a new clutch a few years ago, and it should have a lot of life left.

It seemed to ride down the road nicely, although it did tend to wander because of this type of tires. The engine starts good cold, and fast idles around 1200. After it warms up a little bit, it idles around 700-750, according to the tachometer.

Chad tested the following items and they were working at the time of the listing:
• All 4 headlights
• Turn lights (front and back)
• Dimmer switch changes hi and low beams correctly
• Power headlight doors move smoothly (open and close about same time, indicates working well)
• Windows
• Horn
• Gauges appear to work
• Car seems to run around 140-150 degrees
• When running fast idle warm, showing about 45 pounds of pressure

The canceling system on the turn signals is not working properly and the electric fan is not blowing. The defrost lever is hard to move (it seems to stick from not being used). The keys do not seem to work in the door locks (the seller was not aware of these issues).

The seller has an onsite mechanical shop which is where he has any service repairs or maintenance performed. Because of this, he does not have any service records for the car. It has only needed oil changes and minor service work, as he only drove it short distances on special occasions.

*All advertised prices exclude government fees and taxes, any finance charges, any dealer document preparation charge, and any emission testing charge.

It is possible that this vehicle will be sold at a higher price than the highest bid (before or after the auction ends); if the reserve is not met. After the sale (if reserve is met or not); Auto Connection must receive at least a 10% deposit (wire transfer or official bank or cashier’s check) within 3 days of the end of the auction (or the Bill of Sale is signed). The high bidder/buyer has 10 days from this time to send the balance in full or final payment and inspect the vehicle (or have a 3rd party professional inspection).
For the most part; the vehicle for sale is not “perfect”. It is unreasonable to assume that every single flaw in the paint; body; engine; etc. or any minor mechanical items (such as a light not working) be considered a reason to refuse the vehicle. Major rust/rot; undisclosed problems with the frame; etc. might constitute a legitimate reason for the buyer to refuse to follow through with the sale. In that situation; Auto Connection would negotiate with the seller and buyer to try to reach an agreeable solution.
The buyer acknowledges that he has had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle to verify it is as listed and represented. He accepts the vehicle with all advertised equipment; options and accessories in "AS IS" condition with any faults or defects.
