| [ Paint ] – The paint is just impeccably done. It is obvious that it was professionally prepared, painted, and rubbed afterwards. It is very smooth and shiny, and matches beautifully all the way around. Above the drip rails, we did notice a foot long area that has some minor defects in the paint on either side of the car. It can only be seen at the right angle, in the right light, but it is there.
Under very close scrutiny, you can see a few nicks on the front edge of the doors, and in a few other small areas (1/2” – 1” abrasion on paint that left it lightly marred, but it may polish out). You can see where the paint has been rubbed off on the front edges of the doors. However, those mistakenly occurred because the doors were opened when the tilt nose was not fastened down. This did not cause any problems, and everything still works fine. The next owner needs to remember that when you open the doors, you either have to have the tilt nose all the way down and fastened, or all the way up. The only other spot is a little nick on the right rear quarter (see photos).
[ Body ] – The body is about as straight as you could possibly imagine. It is just beautifully done and really looks fantastic. The doors fit squarely inside the door jams with proper gap all the way around. The 2 doors look original, and the trunk and tilt nose are fiberglass. The only flaw noticed was that at just the right angle, you can see what appears to be the enclosing of the left side fuel fill (look like filling shrinkage). There is a small spider-webbing in the paint at the right front edge of the trunk lid (about 2” in diameter). This is being very critical – but it does exist.
[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The chrome around the headlights, tail lights, and door handles looks like new – it is just flawless. You typically see pitting around the vent windows, but on this car, there is only a little bit of wear (like a car that is only a few years old). It is nothing significant.
[ Interior ] – Looking inside the interior, it looks like a car that was purchased new a couple years ago, and was hardly ever used. That is the best way to describe it. The carpet is very fresh and looks new (it is not even dusty!). The carpet was always covered with floor mats on the driver and passenger sides. The seats do not show any wear (even on the bolsters), except for a tiny ¼” tear on the driver’s seat (see photos). The chrome on the dash is superb. In fact, all of the metal work on the dash is beautifully done. There is a small amount of pitting on the chrome below the odometer. The headliner looks fresh and clean, and the seams are in great shape. The steering wheel is new (the current owner bought it). Overall, the sun visors, seats, door panels, carpet, everything just looks impeccable.
*The control box for the nitrous is behind the shifter (see the installation of the nitrous bottle). The fans have been upgraded (larger fans).
[ Trunk ] – Like the rest of the car, the trunk reeks of quality. Just look at the metal fabrication, the battery box, the seams, and the welds when it was tubbed. It also was nicely splatter painted. The additional photos below tell it all – it was just beautifully done.
[ Tires and Wheels ] – The rear tires you see in the beginning photos are actually different tires than you see in the underneath pictures (see photos). The owner decided to install a new pair of rear tires right before the second set of photos was taken. He likes the tires that are “street legal slicks”. BOTH sets of rear tires are included in the sale.
The other rears are Mickey Thompson tires, size 33 x 18.50 / 15LT . The fronts are Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires, size 26 x 7.50 / 15LT .
The wheels are similar and are in very nice condition. They do not appear to have any curb damage or problems in the finish. Being super critical, the right front might have a couple spots (only on the cap) – but they will probably wash off.
[ Engine ] – The engine was taken down about 150 miles ago, and was inspected, and freshened up after an oil pump problem. It has custom fabricated headers built for the current owner by Church’s Fabrication. Look at the pictures, and see all of the attention to detail on the engine. Read over the list of components below and see all of the care that went into this car.
The block is a 468 c.i. - .030 over, 4 bolt cast iron block. The heads are rectangular port, closed chamber, ported, cast iron. The pistons are TRW forged with heavy duty GM rods with 3/8” bolts. The rockers are Crowler with stud girdle and heavy duty GM push rods. The crank shaft is forged steel GM and has a comp. camshaft.
The owner estimates that this \'55 Chevy has had about 1000 miles since it was built. He adds that there have been no more than 125 miles put on since the engine was rebuilt. |
