| [ Paint ] – This Corvette was an “Indy Pace Car” replica, complete with decals. He believes the paint was all original. In 2009, he removed the decals and had the custom flames hand-painted on the car. Several of the yellowish flames were highlighted with reddish purple paint to make it really look like it was on “fire”. The owner added that the entire car received 4 coats of clear coat on top of the new paint work.
The gentleman who maintains the car for the owner went over the Corvette with Chad. They did not see any nicks, scratches, or defects in the paint. Looking at the finish, you can see how expertly it was polished out after the work was completed, and the high quality of workmanship. It just matches beautifully, and it is so shiny and smooth.
[ Body ] – Looking at the body, we did not see a trace of anything other than what it probably looked like when it was brand new. It looks very straight, and all of the fits appear correct. Since it is fiberglass, there are no dents, but we did not see any cracks or anything else that resembles a potential problem. It looks like it would have come from the factory.
[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The chrome looks just as you would expect a car with only 2,000 – 3,000 miles (and has never been out in harsh weather) to look. All of the chrome is shiny, with no apparent pitting, scratches, or damage. The wheels are in great shape and do not seem to have any problems with the finish.
[ Glass ] – All of the glass looks very clear. We did not see any bulls eyes, nicks, cracks, or scratches of any type.
[ Top ] – The color on the top looks good and rich. We did not see any damage to the fabric or issues with the stitching. Again, it looks like a car that was only out on a few special days.
[ Interior ] – You can see in the photos that the interior is just impeccable! We did not notice any wear or damage inside. There is a little bit of creasing in the leather – but it is just from someone sitting on it. There are a couple of little scratches around the driver’s door handle that may or may not rub out. The seller tells us he did change the shift knob to another type.
[ Trunk ] – The trunk looks like it never had anything ever stored in it. The carpet and interior is very fresh, and we did not notice any damage or wear.
[ Tires and Wheels ] – The front tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, size P245 – 40ZR 18. The rears are also Eagle F1 tires, but they are size P285 – 35ZR 19. All 4 have about 8/32 tread. We did not see any cracking or wear on the tires, nor did we see any curb damage or dents on the wheels or tires.
[ Engine area ] – The seller made extensive modifications to the engine including the exhaust system (see copies of scanned bills below).
[ Chassis ] – We were unable to take this car out for a test drive (or to put it on a rack for chassis photos), because of the salt on the roads. From the photos we did take underneath, you can definitely see this Corvette has had very little exposure.
[ Mechanical ] – Chad tested the following items and they were working at the time of the listing:
• Back up lights
• Left and right turn signal – front and rear
• Brake lights
• Tail lights
• Headlights (high and low beam)
• Fog lamp lower
• 4 way flashers front and rear
• Power top – cycled 3 times, works smoothly
• Power windows
• Power mirrors
• Wipers
• Engine has push button on and off
• Traction system light and button dash turn on and off
• Seats seem to warm on both sides properly
• Climate control system seems to be cycling for heat and cooling modes
• Navigation system turns on (did not drive)
• Radio
The owner tells us that everything works correctly, as it was designed. He says the engine runs smoothly, the transmission works properly, and the brakes stop correctly. Chad hopes to take the car for a test drive as soon as the weather clears up. |
